Some people refer to it as "biscuit bread". My mama called them hoecake bread,. She fried them little cakes in bacon drippings in a screaming hot, cast iron skillet on top of the wood-burning stove. When we were really lucky, we had a little drizzle of cane syrup or honey and a dab of fresh butter!
There's not much to the ingredients- simply flour, bacon fat and milk. Back then, often water was used instead of milk when there was no money for milk. We had them for breakfast, dinner and supper!
