My Mum use to make these shortbreads every Christmas and passed down the recipe to me. Now I have passed it down to my two daughters and they will continue to pass it down. It is no magical recipe it is right on the back of the Corn Starch package. But I am telling you they are mouth watering. I am about to be a baking machine for the next few hours as great for a Christmas gift in a pretty Christmas tin for friends, family or work mates. Hope you enjoy. Season's greetings.
Ingredients
1.5 cups softened butter
2 cups all purpose flour
1 cup icing sugar
1 cup cornstarch Canada cornstarch, naturally
1/4 tsp salt
Instructions
Combine all ingredients in a glass mixing bowl (a plastic bowl works just as good, just don't use metal)
Shape the dough into 1" balls. Flatten each ball with a fork and top with sprinkles
Bake on an ungreased cookie sheet at 300 F for 20 minutes until the bottoms are very lightly browned
Transfer to a paper towel-covered wire rack to cool.
