This meal is a daily must have on my list. I will usually have omelets about five times a week. And to be perfectly honest, I’ll have them at any time of the day, not just breakfast. They are quick, easy, and if made accordingly, extremely healthy! This meal covers four of the major food groups all before noon. Grains, vegetables, meat, and protein. If you’re looking to watch your carb intake, I would suggest swapping the whole wheat bagel for a whole wheat tortilla or whole wheat English muffin instead. All three make for an equally delicious finished product.
Some tips to ensuring this meal is as healthy as possible is to swap out certain ingredients for better options. I will use olive oil to grease the pan instead of butter. Mozzarella or sharp cheddar cheese is usually my choice of additional protein. Whole wheat breads or even no bread if you prefer. And of course, smoked turkey instead of ham.
The last couple of ingredients that make this omelet one of my favorites are the pickled jalapenos and freshly chopped onions. The beauty of all these ingredients is that when they’re combined, they are full of so much flavor that you won’t need to add any extra spices. This reduces the salt content significantly.
I’m very excited to share this recipe with you all. It is one of my favorite things to make and enormously easy. Best of all, it will keep you feeling full without overeating. Please give it a try and let me know how it turns out! 🥚 🍳 🦃 🧀 🥯
