Dancing like Pavlova

in food •  7 years ago

Hey Steemian,

Yesterday, it was the birthday of a friend of mine and I decided to make her favorite dessert to celebrate this special occasion.
And I can't complain, her favorite dessert is so simple, but illegally delicious: PAVLOVA.
I used to bake tiny pavlovas when I was 14-15 years old as a snack before going to school. Great activity, right, instead of doing my homeworks!

Pavlova is a meringue dessert, named after a ballerina, Anna Pavlova from Russia. The dessert creator is from Australia, as far as I know.

Ingredients
6 large white eggs
240 g caster sugar
10 ml vinegar
20 g cornstarch
pinch of salt

Cream
200 ml heavy cream
50 ml lemon juice
lemon zest
vanilla extract
blackberries

  1. Preheat the oven at 175C.
  2. Beat the egg whites with salt, for one minute, until firm. Start adding sugar and continue mixing. It should take 5 minutes until well firmed.
  3. Add the vinegar and cornstarch and mix it well for 30 seconds.
  4. With a rubber spatula, fold the meringue into a pan with baking sheet.
  5. Bake for 1h15minutes. Turn off the heat, open the oven door and keep it this way until the meringue has cooled.
  6. Meanwhile, make the cream by mixing all the ingredients.
  7. When your dear dancer has cooled, top it with cream and blackberries.
