Strange noodles that came with a whole hot dog in them

in food •  4 years ago

During the past month I have just been buying whatever noodles in the minimarts as long as there wasn't a picture of some sort of seafood on it. I don't know what I am buying for the most part but the noodles tend to not be spicy and as far as I can tell most of them taste the same anyway.

I wasn't planning on this weird product that I had for a snack today though.

Perhaps if i had looked a bit closer at the container I would have noticed the picture of the hot dog with noodles wrapped around it. I am not new to the noodle cup buying process but still wouldn't think that there would actually be a sausage in the thing.

That my friends, is an entire sausage stored inside of a dehydrated noodles cup that has never been refrigerated. I am not super-fussy when it comes to food but there is no way that I am eating a meat product that can be consumed after a month of not being in a temperature controlled environment.

I've lived in multiple countries in Asia as well as Central America and I have never seen a product like this. Sure, I am familiar with SPAM and what not, but I have never seen it packed inside of a noodle cup.

The good news is that without the hot dog the noodles actually tasted pretty good. I know these things are horrible for you but our food options have been pretty limited until recently and these cups of noodles come in handy in a pinch. I will avoid the hot dog one in the future though.

Maby I am incorect but according to the way that I see it the 'noodles' are not that bad for you...it is the 'pre-packaged spice pack'. Normally I try to avoid the 'cup of noodles' because they come pre seasoned.

I usually try to avoid using the spice packet, and instead try to add other food that will share it flavor :)

i never thought of that. I always use the spice packet if i am eating noodles because otherwise it will taste like nothing! You might be correct though :)

My sister told me once that she read that if you made your homemade hamburger taste exactly the same as the hamburger that you bought in a resturant, then the homemade burger would be a healthier option for you. 'Food manufactures' design there products so they will 'remain edible' for a long time, so I think that the closer your food is to GOD's hand then the healthier it might be. So noodle spices that are provided might be convenient to put on your food, but I would like to avoid putting alot of chemical preservatives into my body (avoid them when I can) :)

oh your sister is correct, there is no denying that. There is something very unnatural about a food product that you can leave in the cabinet for years and it is still edible - which is the case with all of these noodles.

Hahaha...it makes you wonder what is going on when you can order a burger and fries from a fast food resturant, you can bring the food back to the house and let it sit out for a couple of weeks and the meal still looks halfway presentable. Its like we are eating plastic fruit...

Its like they are dipping our food in formaldehyde to make it last longer!? Instead of adding the spice packet (with all the chemicals that it might have) Try adding some soup to the noodles.
