Today's Sustainable Feast in the Garden of EdensteemCreated with Sketch.

It's an excellent day in the Garden of Eden, and we're sharing an excellent feast!

We do all of our cooking over fire in our sustainable outdoor kitchen. We built our rocket stoves by hand out of dirt, and we burn scrap wood that was otherwise destined for the landfill.

We live intimately connected to the land and nature, and it's great fun to cook outside! The air is fresh, the birds and the bugs make a lovely symphony, and the sun starts to set as we prepare dinner.

We prepared a yummy meal today of spinach tortellini with chunky tomato sauce and fresh pesto, garden salad, and sautéed brussels sprouts with onions.

We have been avoiding sugar, wheat, meat, and dairy for several weeks while we do an anti-candida diet, so spinach tortellini was a real treat! These are wheat pastas filled with a bit of ricotta and parmesan cheese.

Some of us chose to skip this dish in favor of more veggies, but the option was there for anyone who wanted some!

We made a chunky, earthy tomato sauce with lots of onions, garlic, peppers, and mushrooms as well as fresh herbs from the garden. Cooked tomatoes actually have higher antioxidant levels than raw tomatoes!

We also made a fresh pesto from our basil! This is a really easy sauce to make by blending basil, garlic, pine nuts, parmesan cheese, and olive oil.

Pesto is an Eden Knight favorite, especially because our lemon thai basil pops up like weeds on our property. This wonderful herb is fragrant, delicious, nutritious, and abundant with lots of antiviral, anti-fungal, antiseptic, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory super powers!!

We made a green salad of garden veggies with lots of wildcrafted lamb's quarter, bell peppers, and shredded carrots.

We made a side dish of brussels sprouts lightly sautéed with onions too!

Food is important and we hope to inspire people to really take time to eat, enjoy it, and share it with someone you love. We also hope to  inspire more and more sustainable practices in regards to  food. We want  to remind everyone to let food be your medicine too!

This is so cool and the fact that all the wonderful food you showed came from a sustainable garden is inspiring. No need to do it immediately, but maybe in a future post you could show a picture of your rocket stove? I really like them but with so many ways to construct them, I'd like to see how you went about yours. I did notice the link to a guide on building 1 above, and I will be sure to check that out as well. Enjoy the bounty from the garden of eden!!

Well done, you should be cooking for a resort or restaurant. Love reading your posts when I catch them in the feeds. Thanks again for sharing your brilliant talents.
