Hi everyone,

For my first Food Steemit entry, I thought I’d share with you a home-made, wholemeal, vegetarian pizza recipe.

To begin with, you’ll need the following ingredients:

For the dough

  • 2 cups (500g) of wholemeal bread flour
  • 1 tsp of olive oil
  • A pinch of salt
  • 7g instant dried yeast
  • ½ tsp of sugar
  • ¼ litre of warm water

For the tomato base

  • 5 spoonful of tomato puree
  • 1 tsp of olive oil
  • 1 tsp of mixed herbs

For the toppings

  • Button mushrooms (roughly 9 big pieces)
  • One large red onion
  • One large red pepper
  • Sweet corn
  • Black olives
  • Cheddar cheese
  • Mozzarella cheese
  • Quorn pepperoni (optional)

Steps:

  1. In a jug, add ¼ litre of warm water, yeast and sugar. Leave the mixture for 10 minutes or until it’s foamy.

  2. In a large bowl, pour flour, olive oil, salt and the yeast mixture.

  3. Mix all of them together to form a dough. Knead for 5 minutes.

  4. After kneading, leave the dough with cover for at least 30 minutes (or until the dough double its size)

  5. Cut the dough in half to make two large pizzas (at this point, you may start pre-heating the oven at 180 degrees)

  6. Knead the dough into a ball (As shown in number 5)

  7. Roll the dough with a rolling pin then place the dough in a greased pizza tray

  8. Put the tomato base on the dough and spread evenly

  9. Then, put all the toppings

  10. Finish it off by, sprinkling cheddar cheese on top

That looks delicious! Great job!

Thank you :)

I like your step by step post, and the collection of ingredients to start things off. And making your own dough - good for you! That can be a challenge, but it looks like you've got it down. Nice to have a post showing how to do that.
On a side note, I had no idea there was such thing as corn pepperoni!!? Who knew? (I'm sure there are millions out there that knew, but I was not one of them!) Thanks for sharing with the community.
