Good evening steemits. This evening i made a black soup for the family dinner. A grinded type of vegetable is used. I asked my grandma what type of vegetable exactly and she said different types are used but it has to be the type that draws (i. e. Slimy). She said sometimes ewedu (Corchorus olitorius) leaves are used. They will dry the leaves and grind it into a powder. The powder are normally sold in the market. They call it "cooker"
INGREDIENTS NEEDED
- Locust beans
- Cooker powder
- Palm oil
- Maggi
- Salt (optional)
- Meat broth or water
- Palm oil
PROCESS
- I used a meat broth to cook it, i just pour the broth to a pot and add locust beans to it and allow it to boil. ( if its ordinary water i was using, I would add the maggi and salt at this stage)
- Once its boiled, I added little palm oil to it.
- I allowed it to boil a bit then i added the cooker powder( picture below).
- As im pouring the cooker powder, i used a short cooking broom to disperse it so it wont clot together.
- Then I allow it to cook for about a minute or few second because it cant stay long on fire at this stage if not it will burn.
- And so after this the soup is ready to br served.
It can be eaten with pounded yam, amala or semovita. In our case tonight it was with semovita. (picture below)
