Cinnamon Sugar Pumpkin Spiced Baked Doughnuts (FOOD PHOTO SHOOT)

Don’t you love it when the whole house smells like doughnuts? Pumpkin doughnuts? Even better!

Those are the best days in my opinion. I absolutely love fall and all that comes with it. Especially the holidays!
It seems like I wait all year long for the holiday season. Every year when I was little I would start to get so excited right around September. You know, the kind of childish excitement that has you convinced that you really may at least pass or otherwise just fall over and die of it.

I love to get festive and decorate. Nothing makes me happier than putting up our Christmas tree and singing Christmas carols. Sorry, that’s skipping ahead a little. First is Halloween, which I am not a huge fan of actually celebrating or even the whole trick or treating thing. No, but I do love a good scary movie marathon. We have a tradition of making caramel corn and watching the Shining every year.

So I made these pumpkin spice doughnuts and oh my goodness, they are amazing. The first batch I made was completely devoured by my family. Like I said, the whole house smelled like pumpkin spice. It just made me want to smile, a lot. With today being only the second day of fall I thought this would be a good recipe to post today.

I have all kinds of recipes planned for the rest of this month and next. When I say planned that actually means I have ideas that popped into my head and it lasted longer than a millisecond. That is about the extent of my planning. I told you, I am hopelessly unorganized.

I am getting into holiday gear so I hope you are as excited as I am. My festivness (shut up spell check. It is too a word.) is almost dangerous at times!

Recipe pleasee

Thanks for reading @thekitchenfairy!

Ingredients

1 1/2 cups all-purpouse flour
2 eggs
1 cup sugar
3/4 cup pumpkin puree
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1/4 teaspoon each of ginger, nutmeg, allspice, and cloves (or you can use 1 tsp. pumpkin pie spice)
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teapoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup butter (1 stick) melted
cinnamon and sugar for coating donuts (I used about 1 cup sugar to 2 teaspoons cinnamon)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (180 C).
  2. Whisk eggs, oil, and sugar in a large mixing bowl. Add pumpkin, vanilla, and spices. Stir in flour until batter is smooth.
  3. Spray a doughnut pan with nonstick cooking spray and either pipe or just spoon batter into each opening.
Bake for 10-15 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean and tops are slightly browned.
  4. Allow to cool for about 5 minutes then remove from pan.
Dip each doughnut in melted butter then in cinnamon and sugar.
  5. Serve warm or place on cooling rack to finish cooling.

mmm, pumpkin spice P:

I know, right? So delicious! Thanks @anubisthegaylord

Ohhh yummm...
You are so bad for my diet :p

So sorry about that. I'll try to balance things by sharing some healthier recipes soon @ewkaw! Thanks for reading.

Agreed - I love checking out what gringalicious posts when I have time. Donuts are a weakness... so I made time to look, drool and read.

If it helps, 1/3 c oil is tolerable in my diet - sometimes I substitute some apple sauce for the same amount of oil/butter. I wouldn't need the stick of butter because I'd skip dipping them in it to get the cin/sugar to stick. I'd sprinkle it on and ponder adding a little less sugar. ...after trying the delicious looking recipe as stated, of course!!

Wow... Don't get much better than that Thank you for sharing @mannyfig1956

Thanks so much @mannyfig1956, I appreciate you taking a time to comment

I really appreciate it @offgridlife!

Yummm..Like many others, I do enjoy donuts! But I always alter my footsteps when they hurry towards a Dunkin' Donuts or Krispy Kreme, because I know they are like high-level empty caloric!! D=

Maybe homemade is more healthy? * hopeful face* =)

Happy start of fall! Look forward to your flurry of brainstormed goodies =))

I'm not in love with donuts although I do like them! These look amazing, I love the cinnamon and sugar coating; cinnamon goes well with almost everything. After an allnighter baking I shouldn't want to keep cooking but I want to try them out. Your pictures are lovely and look so professional :)

Very kinds words @alemars16, thanks so much for taking the time to comment on my post

These Doughnuts looks so yummy

I am so glad you liked them @padmakshi

I love donuts, but I get addicted to these fuckers. I only allow myself to eat them once per week or I start looking like Homer Simpson :-)

I understand what you mean. Thanks so much for commenting @valorforfreedom

That stack!! I've been nervous with baking donuts because I thought they'd flatten out - but yours are so fluffy and not flattened at all. How many of those do you think you could stack before they toppled? My guess is you could add 3 more to what you have there. Anyway, I'm guessing that there aren't enough of them around anymore to test my hypothesis. :)

It is really difficult to keep enough donuts around to test how high you can stack, you're absolutely correct. My brothers are basically afraid of me when it comes to my food and shooting photos, but from time to time they do steel a bite here and there when I am distracted. Great commenting @jaymorebeet, thanks so much!

Excellent post, I liked it, I follow you to read what you publish, you pass by my profile, maybe something that interests you too, keep posting like this :D

its look very sweet. I'd love to eat it, but I'm also afraid of toothache

Not sure these would cause a toothace, but thanks so much for commenting @jonas160

Those donuts look really tasty and yes I love when the house smells like donuts. I never actually tried making donuts, but I always wanted to make them, and now that I have your recipe I can try it. Thanks for sharing.

You can totally do this @joalvarez. I hope you give it a try. Thanks so much for taking the time to comment

i bet those are REALLY good..if only i could click buy! lol

That's still an idea I have not ruled out. Now that I am back in the states, I could definitely consider shipping. I have to find the right package to preserve the dish. But, my wheels are still spinning for sure. Thanks so much @doitvoluntarily

Yummy! What a delicious way to begin the autumn season. Are they hard to make?

Thanks @katrinalewis. No, they are not difficult at all. You should give it a try and make your own post about it

I will definitely have to try that. Have you made them with ingredients other than pumpkin before?

Fall festive desserts AND donuts! I doesn't get much better than that!

It's that time of year again, just amazing how fast time goes by

I think they are very sweet :))

I am so glad you think they are sweet @foxkoit. Have a great night

Beautiful photos, you made me hungry

Thanks for commenting @subhankar-raj

Wow, this reminds me of our Filhós, a Christmas dessert I shared here because it also has pumpkin. So, yes, I can imagine the fragrance!

I was loving the recipe, but "Dip each doughnut in melted butter " it seems a lot of fat at once. Not complaining, my recipe uses oil. I was just loving the idea of a sweet with less fat (oil, butter, whatever). They look great and I wish I could eat half-dozen! ;)

Your ideas are great. Yeah, we love butter. Thanks so much for commenting @liliana.duarte

Are those real flowers btw?

Yes, 100% real.

Wow the colors are so vibrant

Thank you again for the recipe

My household is always crazy on everything pumpkin 😂😂😂

Lot's of pumpkin recipes are on their way

Oh, yum! Thank you for sharing! 😊
