Hi there! This is my first post in English, I wrote, some days ago, an introduceyourself in Italian, so before starting with the main topic of this post, here a very short introduction of myself:
Short bio - off topic
I'm Simone from Italy, I'm an GNU/Linux embedded system developer now focused on cloud-based projects. I'm a passionate about new technologies and geek stuff. I'm used to be involved into Open Source projects as author or simple developer. I like to cultivate many hobbies: I'm an amateur musician multi-instrumentalist (clarinet, keyboards, guitar...and singer), I like to do barbecue with my friends (the main topic here!) and practice Taijiquan as internal martial art.
BBQDay
Four years ago I bought my first grill (Weber OT 57) and from that day I like to cook and experiment doing barbecue events with my friends. My intent is to merge original BBQ techniques with traditional Italian recipes.
Every 2 or 3 month I plan a day dedicated to bbq, selecting recipes and ingredients. Last sunday we had the BBQDay edition #6. Here the proposed menu:
Pork belly with fennel and anise
This is a well tested recipe. It's a pork belly marinated overnight with fennel and anise grounded seeds, salt and garlic. Then it was smoked for three hours with cherry wood at 140°C. Served with fennel and green apples salad.
Chicken and beans fajitas
It's a mexican inspired recipe: grilled chicken breast, onions, pepper, beans and corn inside a huge tortillas!
pork loin with apricots and caramelized onions
It's a pork loin brined overnight with juniper berries, rosemary, coriander seeds, bay leafs. It was filled with dried apricots, then it was smoked for three hours with cherry wood at 140°C. It was served with caramelized onions and chopped pistachio.
And...this was the BBQDay #6, I'm ready to plan the next edition. Do you have any suggestion for the next menu?
Looks awesome. Actually just about to make carne asada right now :)

@orangeshpere It's an interesting suggestion! I have to build my first "asador cruz" :)
