Abula; The full Amala combination - Imagine traveling over 150KM just for a plate of this.
I have been privileged to taste this at four (4) different cities[Ibadan, Lagos, Ogun, Osun], and over ten (10) different restaurants[including Iya Abula, White house, Amala sky etc] and I have come to the following conclusions;
- Yes, a plate of Abula taste great
- Yes, it is popular in South-west Nigeria
- Yes, a good plate of Abula deserves to be traveled for.
- No, a good plate shouldn't cost more than a Dollar ($1) - 400 Naira
- No, a non-Yoruba person shouldn't be the cook (No tribalism intended)
- No, don't use any other soup to eat Amala. These are the only acceptable soups - Gbegiri(Beans soup), Ewedu(Black soup), Ata(Pepper)
- For perfection, USE YOUR WASHED-HANDS TO EAT!
I still need to know what makes Amala special. - The soup combination? The overrating? The taste? Or did I just waste money traveling so far for a plate? @oluwabori can you help me answer? or members from @stach will help out?
What food do you think is as over-rated as Amala?
