Some of you may have seen this Samyang 2x Spicy Ramen being circulated around in the social media. I've seen quite a few videos where people tried to take on the challenge of eating the apparently super spicy noodle. Most of them who ate the noodle ended up with excruciating agony, ranging from sweating, tearing eyes, runny nose and even worse, I saw my ex-university friend vomit while eating it half way through (he did a video of himself taking on the challenge).

And I was like... "Psssh! Is it really that spicy? I'm born in Penang and Penang is famous for spicy food. I don't think this is spicy for me!". Boy, I was so wrong.

So I finally managed to get my hands on this little fire demon. I cooked it using a small rice cooker. And yes, I actually ate the noodle directly from the rice cooker bowl itself after draining the water so that I don't have to wash extra dishes. There's a saying that goes "work smart, play hard". So, we gotta eat smart too! Save up detergent, save up water. Just have'ta wash 1 bowl only!
*Disclaimer: Cocktail sausages not included and are sold separately. I added them in 'cos the noodle feels a bit plain without some extra stuff to go with it.

So yeah, the noodle is damn spicy alright. Possibly the spiciest food I've tasted. This is also the first time I ate spicy food "combo" with milk. The reason for that is because milk contains the protein called "casein" which helps to dissolve capsaicin (the substance that make you feel spiciness) found in chili peppers so that you don't feel that painful while eating spicy food. More details on that can be found on the article here.

In all honesty, the noodle itself is good. When they say 2x spicy, they really mean it. But be warned though, when "duty calls" the next day, your other end will burn as well. It's literally crying out for mercy! 😂

I tried the cup noodle version, I could not get pass the first two bites.

I managed to finish the entire bowl. Just barely. But holy crap, my other end burns like hell the next day...

I was challenged to try this noodle many months ago, I only managed to eat half and it was so painfull! I banned this noodle from my life now. Food supposed to be enjoyed, not half killing hahahaha

Haha, yeah I get what you mean. My uncle said the exact same thing as you did! "Food supposed to be enjoyed. Why are you torturing yourself eating that?". But I kinda like the "kick" out of it. 😂

Thanks for the tip on the milk. My whole family love this too including the kids. My then 1+ year old will come for it, took a bite and cried. Then came back and repeat the process. 😂

Glad to help! Haha, that's adorable! 😂

Do keep in mind that milk may only help to reduce the pain. The pain won't go away instantly; it'll slowly dissipate over time, but it helps. Especially for this particular flavoured noodle.

I normally go for Milo. I like to pair it with noodles like these. Maybe I’ll add milk next time :)
