Chicken and beer, or ‘chi-maek’ as commonly known in Korea, has become a keyword of Hallyu, greatly due to a K-drama in which the main character likes chicken and beer.

The coined word chi-maek comes from chicken and maekju (meaning beer in Korean). Many Korean people think of fried chicken when thinking of beer, and enjoy chi-maek either at pubs, bars, or simple chicken restaurants. Families choose fried chicken delivery and enjoy home chi-maek watching TV.

Chi-maek is included in many Hallyu tour packages.
