Easy Chicken Fried Rice

Hey Steemit!

How are you guys enjoying this updated look? I think it's alright, makes browsing through your feed easier, nice, thanks team :).

Anyways, how about a quick chicken fried rice recipe? But first let me warn you, it is not an authentic one, it's just something you put together when you're into some Thai food, but don't feel like getting out of the house and they don't deliver, boo!

Ingredients:

  • half of a chicken breast, thinly sliced;
  • half of a bell pepper;
  • a handful of fresh basil;
  • a small carrot;
  • a cup of jasmine rice;
  • 2 tb. spoons soy sauce;
  • 2 tb. spoons oyster sauce;
  • 1 tb. spoon fish sauce;
  • half a teaspoon brown sugar;
  • 2 eggs;
  • 1-2 cloves garlic;
  • red pepper flakes or chili oil to taste.

Directions:

Let's start with boiling the rice, and letting it cool down. Although you can use rice that's a day or two old, it might be even better according to an article I read in the past, however, I personally can't tell the difference.
Next, cut your carrot and bell pepper, set aside.

In a cast iron skillet or wok heat your frying oil, add some chili oil to it to make your food hot or red hot pepper flakes inot it. I am using some chili oil I made over a year ago haha.

Place the chicken on the skillet or walk and fry on a medium heat until almost cooked. Add in the chopped carrot, bell pepper and garlic, stir in the eggs, one after the other, make sure nothing gets burnt or too soft, you gotta do this quick! In a small bowl combine soy sauce, brown sugar, oyster sauce and fish sauce, stir well, pour into the skillet/wok. Now dump your rice into it, stir a few times until the sauce is spread out well and add in the basil leaves.
DONE!
Take it off the heat and move into a big dish, so the vegetables don't very soft, they still have to be sort of crunchy.

Usually I eat mine with sriracha sauce and chili paste, if I am feeling like it I may even add some canned jalapenos in my plate, it may sound weird, but it is actually pretty good, especially if you have a cold beer around :) unfortunately, I didn't this time haha. Oh well.

Delicious chicken fried rice... I like rice dishes and hope this recipe will be a good addition to those... The cooking process is a little bit lengthy but the taste will be amazing as The photographs shows... What was the taste of the dish with canned jalapenos? ...Thanks @kotturinn for all these fantastic recipes...

Thank you :) I only add the canned jalapenos sometimes when I have them around and the food is done. What they do is just make it even spicier if you like spicy food, it is good to have a drink around, something cold, maybe a pop or a beer, or just water, anything you like!

Welcome.... Yes I like it, I use it fresh and some time chili garlic sauce to make the food spicy .... Yes cold drinks are good option...

Great recipe for today. presentation shows that the dish is too delicious!

Thanks! Yeah, this one is actually one of my favorite things to eat haha

It was pretty good, thanks.

Thanks!

You and @gringalicious...making me hungry since all of the times. There must be a way to organise a Steemit cook off, I'll obviously be a judge. Either that or a Steemit "Special Orders" service - who's got a long distance drone?

Hahaha that would be a fun thing to do. I'm sure you could get people to cook at SteemFest 2, maybe?!

If I was going then that'd be an amazing idea.

Actually there's a competition to win a ticket to SF and I entered with the promise to complete a challenge each day and post the video to Steemit. So if I win (which I definitely won't) then this idea could be an interesting one :P

Hopefully you win, if not you will just make the food yourself ^) hhaha I am not going to SF either!

Yeah true. It won't look as nice as yours though!

I've got a recipe that I think you would like, I'd love to see the outcome of you making it in your style!

Haha thanks! What is it? I will try to make it if I have the ingredients.

I messaged you the recipe on busy.org - dunno if that works?

I'm not on busy org

Nice recipe, delicious food , beautiful photographs.

Thanks!

wow that's so beautiful amazing it looks :D

Thank you @blazing!

That's what I read, but I never do it haha

Looks very delicious @kotturinn. Thanks for sharing. I will definitelytry it soon.

I hope you do, thanks :)
