Hello everyone!!This is #SundayCook #50...OMG! If you were wondering if I had quit this project, than your answer is 'no'! I will always need to eat, and will always want to prepare my special dishes. But time to prepare this kind of posts is even more limited these days. I will share two more recipes and reach SundayCook #52, then I'll take a break because I can't think on elaborated dishes during Summer time. Enough of chit chat, today I have a delicious and very traditional portuguese recipe to share!! |

Cod fish 'à Gomes de Sá' | Bacalhau 'à Gomes de Sá'
This is one of 1001 Cod Fish recipes we prepare in Portugal, but probably it is one of the most populars, and has a fun story! José Luís Gomes de Sá Júnior was the son of an important merchant of cod fish. At some point in his life he went to work as a cook in a restaurant, and there he created this famous cod fish recipe, that eventually got his name Gomes de Sá. |
Esta é uma das 1001 receitas de bacalhau que fazemos em Portugal, mas é provavelmente uma das mais populares e tem uma história engraçada por trás! José Luís Gomes de Sá Júnior era filho de um grande comerciante de bacalhau. A certa altura da sua vida foi trabalhar como cozinheiro num restaurante, e foi lá que criou a famosa receita do bacalhau que acabou por receber o seu nome. |
Ingredients | Ingredientes:
- 3 desalted cod steaks (about 600 grams) | - 3 postas de bacalhau dessalgado
- 3 medium onions | - 3 cebolas médias
- 3 cloves of garlic | - 3 dentes de alho
- 500 g potatoes | - 500 g batatas
- 4 eggs | - 4 ovos
- milk (to cover the cod fish) | - leite (para cobrir o bacalhau desfiado)
- olive oil (to taste) | - azeite (a gosto)
- black pepper (to taste) | - pimenta-preta (a gosto)
- salt (to taste) | - sal (a gosto)
- parsley and black olives (to taste) | - salsa e azeitonas pretas(a gosto)
Preparation | Preparação
1 - Cook the cod fish in a saucepan with boiling water lightly seasoned with salt. When the cod fish is cooked, remove it and set aside to cool. |
1 - Cozer o bacalhau numa panela com água ligeiramente temperada com sal. Quando o bacalhau estiver cozido, retirar e reservar para arrefecer. |
2 - Wash the peeled potatoes and place it to cook in the same saucepan where the cod fish was cooked. When the potatoes are cooked, drain the water and set aside to cool. |
2 - Lavar as batatas com pele e colocar a cozer na mesma panela onde cozeu o bacalhau. Quando estiverem cozidas, escorrer a água e reservar até arrefecer. |
4 - Remove the skin and bones of the cod fish. Flake it with a fork and cover with hot milk. Set aside for 1-1h30m. |
4 - Tirar as espinhas e peles do bacalhau. Desfiar o bacalhau e cobrir com leite bem quente. Reservar por 1h a 1h30m. |
5 - Meanwhile, peel, wash and slice the onion and chop the garlic. |
5 - Entretanto, descascar, lavar e cortar a cebola em fatias e picar o alho. |
6 - Place the olive oil, the sliced onions, chopped garlics and the bay leaf in a saucepan and saute over low heat until the onion start to turn golden brown. |
6 - Colocar a cebola às fatias, o alho picado e a folha de louro a alourar numa panela, até a cebola ficar dourada. |
7 - Now that the potatoes are cooled, peel it and cut into round slices. |
7 - Agora que as batatas já estão frias, pelar e cortar às rodelas. |
8 - Drain the cod fish and add it to the onion and garlic sauté. Add the potatoes, mix gently with a spoon and season with black pepper. Let cook for more two to three minutes over low heat. |
8 - Escorrer o leite e juntar o bacalhau ao refogado. Juntar as batatas e mexer cuidadosamente com uma colher e temperar com pimenta preta. Deixar apurar por mais 2 ou 3 minutos em lume brando. |
9 - Place the mixture in a baking dish and place it a 180ºC pre-heated oven for 10 minutes. |
9 - Colocar a mistura num tabuleiro e levar ao forno pré-aquecido a 180ºC durante 10 minutos. |
10 - Add the sliced eggs, black olives, and sprinkle with chopped parsley. |
10 - Juntar os ovos cortados, as azeitonas pretas e a salsa picada. |

What is Sunday Cook?!
This Sunday Cook project began with a strong will to contribute to Steemit with my personal view of Portuguese cuisine. I really believe we have plenty of good food. Despite I'm not a professional or nothing similar, I can assure that I'm doing my best, and hopefully, I'm improving my skills too!
On Sundays (cold Sundays), I like to prepare more elaborate and delicious food. It requires time and patience. Usually, I cook some traditional Portuguese food, or at least with Portuguese inspiration :) I try to do it in a healthier way, using the minimum fat as possible, and normally I pick some recipe and transform it. During the week I don't like to spend much time cooking (no time at all), that's why I get totally motivated to cook on Sundays!!

O que é o Sunday Cook?!
Este projeto iniciou-se com uma grande vontade de contribuir para o Steemit com a minha visão pessoal da cozinha Portuguesa. Eu considero que temos excelentes pratos. Apesar de não ser profissional nem nada que o valha, garanto que tenho feito o meu melhor, e espero estar a melhorar os meus dotes culinários!
Nos Domingos (quando está frio), gosto de preparar comida mais elaborada. Requer tempo e paciência. Normalmente, cozinho pratos da cozinha tradicional Portuguesa, ou pelo menos inspirados na mesma. Tento cozinhá-los de uma forma saudável, usando o mínimo de gordura possível e normalmente pego numa receita e adapto ao meu gosto. Durante a semana não gosto de perder tempo a cozinhar (nada mesmo), e é por isso que me sinto motivada a cozinhar nos Domingos!!

If you ever visit Portugal again, more specifically Évora, I recommend Dom Joaquim restaurant. We 've been there recently on a special " Wine Dinner", and it was absolutely outstanding!! It was a combination of excellent food and wine, that @rmach summarized in WinExperience SPECIAL! Jantar Vínico/Wine Dinner "Adega Cartuxa & Restaurante Dom Joaquim", and it was only 26€/person!!
(I also know restaurants where two people can eat and drink for that value, but it's not the same!)
