The Dairy Industry is Dying as the World Goes Vegan

in food •  5 years ago  (edited)

“Dairy cheese contains reproductive hormones that may increase breast cancer mortality risk", U.S. Physicians Comittee for Responsible Medicine is petitioning the FDA to put warning on dairy products. Not to mention, the industry has suffered major financial loss in the past decade as people awaken.

People who've decided to drink soy milk instead get called soy boys. The mainstream rhetoric is that soy will give men breasts. Yes, soy contains phytoestrogens, but these plant hormones are estrogen receptor modulators, so they don't just raise estrogen levels, they regulate them. Boys who drink soy won't grow breasts, but men who drink milk are at increased risk of prostate cancer.

This hormonal regulation is why soy does not make males grow breasts", yet it can treat menopausal breast cancer. This homeostasis also contributes to the prevention of cancer in general and cardiovascular disease.

Except for one phytoestrogen found in soy and beans called Formononetin, soy does NOT cause breast cancer; soy TREATS breast cancer and other hormone-sensitive cancers like prostate cancer.

Although recent studies have found a negative association between dairy and breast cancer risk, past research has found the higher the fat content, the greater the breast cancer risk. Humans can also get leukemia via Bovine Leukemia Virus from milk and beef.

Animal agriculture, especially beef and dairy, is one of the worst things we can do for our health and for the environment. Yet people are still consuming dairy en mass, in almost every product of every meal. 99% of infant formulas are milk based, even though they can be made from plants like peas, soy, and coconut. Why are adults eating cow's milk and feeding it to their children instead of breast milk? The first person to use the word peace in a sentence in the comments will receive a Peace Token.

Have you ever wondered what a baby cow eats, if you and your baby are eating its milk? It's not the fairy tale you've been told as a child.

While we're on the topic of plant-based lifestyle to prevent cancer...

Not into trends and I love a good steak sandwich, but soy chocolate milk was delicious I tried it just out of curiosity. I have no issue with these awesome products, keep posting about delicious soy products I'll never shame you!

I hope this brings you peace of mind.

hahaha @phusionphil, that was great! :)

Chocolate soy milk, you say? I'm a huge fan of coconut milk for drinking. I wasn't a huge cow milk fan, but I drank it now and then, so when I quit dairy I got into coconut milk. It's not overly coconutty, just dull and chalky and creamy and milky and cold, mmm. Great with toast, cookies, over berries, etc.

True, coconut milk is soy good! :)

Chocolate mylk is delicious. I tred some strawberry soy milk the other day and it was straight fire! Haha about as damn good as that strawberry iced cream. Almond mylk has a very specific taste, sometimes it's good by itself or in a blend. I've also tried some good pea milk and cashew iced cream.

Coconut milk is ok, I get what you mean by that chalky taste. Sometimes I like it chalky and sometimes smooth...that's a good benefit to mylk is there's lots of different types. The brand names make a difference too...some add oil to make it nice and smooth but some are weird, like silk makes perfect soy milk but their coconut milk tastes like marshmellows. You can add your own oil to make it smooth, like flax, it's good for you.

Blah blah blah I'm probably only talking about mylk so much because I'm eating a cookie. I should go get a glass of mylk hahaha

Vegan mylk comes in tetra packs that don't need to be refrigerated until they're opened so you can stock up and not always have to go to the store for milk ;)

There's resistance to veganism. For example, a portion of the mainstream sees the recent shift toward veganism as a conspiracy to get them to eat something they don't want to, perhaps something unhealthy or dangerous. They see all the new products and advertising and marketing as cause for alarm. It's true, many of those corporations aren't to be trusted (or supported). But veganism is grassroots, it's not being led by corporations, they're just scrambling in behind to profit off it. Demand for plant based foods is at all time high. Companies must cater to that, or lose market share. Veganism is changing the world. It feels really interesting and exciting to be seeing such a massive shift happening. The spinoff effects of society not eating so much animal carcass could be huge in the coming decades. Maybe we'll become much healthier? Perhaps more peaceful? More sustainable? We can hope!
