Indonesian dish Rawon part 2 - the result

As promised, the follow-up of Indonesian dish Rawon.

Smelling like grannie's cooking skills

It smells all over the house for Indonesian food. The smell reminds me of being in the kitchen of my beloved grandmother. You can even smell the Indonesian kitchen outside of our house. The neighbors have already indicated that they would like to register as volunteers to taste.

However, it appears like a bomb has exploded in the kitchen. Pans, chopping boards, knives, spoons etc. Kitchen tools are everywhere.
The indicated cooking hours in the recipe were not sufficient, because the beef was not tender enough, but now after almost 10 hours on the stove:
The rice is in the rice steamer (inherited by me from my sweet little Indo grandmother)
The Bintang beers are cold.

The tempeh is marinated with lemon, garlic, pepper and salt and is now gently frying in the oil.

Finally the time is there to eat rawon

Delicious steamed rice in a bowl. Rawon along with bean sprouts, finely sliced spring onion, parsley and coriander, a salted duck egg, fried tempeh and a little juice of a fresh lemon. The black soup tastes delicious.

Of course I have prepared too much food.

The remainder of the rawon is in the freezer, waiting for the next Indonesian dish.
My freezer will eventually be a storage for an entire Indonesian rice table.

I hope that I can give myself more time to try cooking more dishes from the Indonesian cuisine.

Looks good, never had indonesian food. And i never had a Bintang beer either. Or maybe i did, because it’s made by and similar to Heineken i see...😄

It was an original Bintang bottle but in the old days, I beleive Heineken build a factory in Indonesia to brew beer (Bintang) see https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bintang_(biermerk)

Yes i already did my research.😄

That looks very delicious @missmau! My husband lived in Indonesia for a while (Makassar and Bali) and loves Indonesian food. But to make it is a lot of work. I sometimes make nasi koening and rendang, but more often we go to Katak Mas in Rotterdam to eat there.

Does your husband love “frikadelpan"? If he likes this, then I will post that in a next blog post about Indonesian food. This is a simple and tasty dish @clio.

I asked him, but he did not know. If it's as simple and tasty as you said, I'd love to do it. So please, put this recipe on your next blog.

@clio the recipe of "frikadelpan" is posted!!

Does iT taste as good as iT looks?

Even better!

I love you to the moon and back for cooking this meal! That really was tasteful!

You lucky one mine Cannon cook that kind of food

I'm sure yours has some great other skills, like baking or something...

Isn’t it in the culture of Indonesian people that they eat with the whole family?🤔😜

Yeah the blockbrother-family 😜😜😜
Looks delicious Maura. Love your post!
