Curd Shorba

Curd shorba is a combination of protein rich ingredients brought together in a delicious indian style soup. It is a kadhi that is transformed into shorba. It has a very comforting flavour and texture, and can surely soothe you on a day when you are tired and want something warm.

Ingredients (serves 4-5)

  1. Fresh low-fat curd – 4 cups
  2. Maida – 1 tbsp
  3. Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
  4. Low-fat milk – 2 tbsp
  5. Oil – 1 tsp
  6. Cumin seeds (jeera) – ½ tsp
  7. Chopped onions – ¼ cup
  8. Green chillies – 2
  9. Grated ginger – ½ tsp
  10. Chopped tomatoes – 2-4 tsp
  11. Chopped cucumber – 1 tbsp

Method

  1. Beat the curd, maida, turmeric powder and milk together.
  2. Heat the oil in a deep non-stick pan and add the cumin seeds.
  3. When the seeds crackle, add the onions, green chillies and ginger and saute for a minute.
  4. Add the curd mixture and salt, mix well and boil for 4-5 minutes.
  5. Add the tomatoes and cucumber, mix well and cook for another one minute.

Serve hot garnished with coriander.
