French Press Coffee, Paleo-Style. It's a Bulletproof Formula that can be Medicated.steemCreated with Sketch.

What!?! Coffee can become bulletproof and Paleo?

YES, yes it can and if you like coffee, it's a delicious recipe.

Bulletproofing coffee refers to the process of fortifying it with high amounts of fat while refraining from using any refined sugar. This keeps it functioning as a good quality fuel source for your brain while minimizing any sugar load to the system. This reduces the amount of insulin required to process it and it makes it easier for the pancreas to function, over the long term.

No sugar or dairy is used in this recipe, but it produces an end result very similar to the consistency of a latte and will make two, 400 ml cups of finished coffee.

Frothy and creamy, but completely dairy-free, which also makes it vegan.

The tools you will need to make this recipe are:

  1. a kettle;
  2. a French Press;
  3. and a blender.

The ingredients you will need are:

  1. 4 tbsp of freshly ground coffee beans;
  2. 800 ml of boiling water;
  3. 2 tbsp of coconut oil (if you want to medicate the coffee use medium chain triglyceride coconut oil that you have infused with cannabis);
  4.  and 1/2 tsp of sunflower lecithin.

The 2 tbsp of MCT coconut oil contains 28 grams of fat.

A 1/2 tsp of sunflower lecithin contains another 1.5 grams of fat.

A large 400 ml cup of bulletproof coffee contains almost 15 grams of fat.

The lecithin is an emulsifier and it is a critical component that ensures that the coconut oil will stay blended with the water used to make the coffee. If you omit the lecithin, the coconut oil will sit on top of your coffee instead of staying consistently blended all the way through. Lecithin is also nutritionally beneficial to the liver and will aid in its efficient functioning.

Directions:

  • Boil 800 ml of water in the kettle.
  • Grind 4 tbsp of coffee beans and place the grinds in the bottom of a French Press.

  • Add the boiling water.

  • Put the plunger lid of the French Press in place and let the coffee brew for 4 minutes.

  • After 4 minutes, depress the plunger to push all the grinds to the bottom of the press.

  • Add sunflower lecithin to the blender.

  • Add the coconut oil to the blender and if you want to medicate it, use MCT coconut oil that you have infused with your choice of strain of cannabis.

Here's one of my previous posts related to making MCT coconut oil, infused with cannabis, in case you missed it:

https://steemit.com/marijuana/@rebeccaryan/strain-teslin-indica-19-5-thc-making-mtc-coconut-oil-infusion-part-2-the-oil-infusion-using-a-magical-butter-machine

This is what the coconut oil and the lecithin will look like in the bottom of the blender:

  • Add the brewed coffee.

This is what the liquid will look like before it is blended. Notice that the oil is sitting on top of the coffee.

  • Blend everything for approximately 30 seconds on high speed.

It will be very frothy.

  • Fill a cup and enjoy!

In my opinion, this is a perfect cup. Bring on the good quality fat and raise your frequency with a little herb at the same time!

Thanks @kus-knee!
Just trying to keep my brain firing and anybody else's who will take a minute to read. LOL

BULLETPROOF COFFEE!!!!

Yes, it's an actual thing. Bulletproof became a brand of a coffee drink made with butter and coconut oil. It was based off of Tibetan Yak milk infused tea. It's traditionally used in the Himalayan mountains because it has a high caloric content and is considered to be a good fuel source for the body. Allegedly, Yak milk is prized for its high fat content. I used sunflower and coconut...lol a good yak is hard to come by. (Let the yakking begin.)

A friend of mine, @bluerthangreen, makes coffee like that and calls it bulletproof.

Some coffee is so strong that I'm sure it could stop bullets. ;)

Or give you enough energy to leap tall buildings in a single bound.

It is the coffee of superheros!

I drink the actual Bulletproof coffee beans with butter and Brain Octane oil and after 2 years, I swear by it along with the no sugar high vegetable and higher healthy fat diet. Great for vegans that you've come up with an alternative!

Thanks for commenting @natureofbeing! I really appreciate it. I drink this fortified coffee everyday and it's definitely an energy maintainer.
I'm a Paleo girl and do my best not to consume any dairy which also makes this particular formula, vegan-friendly.

I'd say that you do an extraordinary job with your vegan alternative recommendations!! I'm not vegan but have very good friends who are and will pass along your recipes.

Thanks, I have a magical butter machine :)

Cool @tfhg! You'll be able to make infused coconut MCT oil with it, no problem.

You always make such good points in your posts. I continue to say your stuff is some of the best going on here RR.

I still cannot tell, is your high speed blender a VitaMix? I have been trying to tell from your photos. I can only see the jar and am not sure.

Can I ask you to support this post?? It is to help Nolan our 15 year old witness everyone knows as - @theprophet0 - who needs a bit of help. I hope you do not mind this here, it is hard to message people privately esp. if time is of the essence.

TYIA and keep up the good work!!

Thank so much Barry. That's a gigantic compliment! Yes it is an older Vitamix, which is why my jars look so weathered. I use it many times a day. No problem, I'll have a look at his stuff.

Man some of the old vita mixes are great collectibles.... yeah, I am a high speed blending nerd for sure.

Ours is only 5 years old, but it looks like it's 25 just because we use it so much.

It's very beautiful pictures...and very interesting :)
Thank you for sharing dear @rebeccaryan :)

Thank you @djsonic!

That cup looks perfect indeed! Thanks for sharing, Rebecca.

Thank you @lazariko12! I really appreciate your support. :)

I've heard this is a great option for people who don't especially like eating breakfast. Do you suggest drinking bulletproof coffee with or without food?
