I don't know why I've done it, but I've always avoided the first piece of bread in a loaf.Sometimes I think someone has breathed on it.
Other times I think someone has had their hands on that one.
I treat it like the muffin in the deli that's out front AND THAT'S THE ONE YOU GET. No, I don't want the display muffin, I want the one in the back that hasn't been breathed on.

I think it's only natural because we've assumed it's taken the blunt of the contact from society in protecting the others. We're thinking some odd mold is going to grow in our belly if we eat it, and we gag for even considering the option.
Maybe I'm crazy. I don't think I am. Thoughts?
