Family time at the beach? having a picnic? Or eating some street food? For Cebuano's instead of bringing regular rice the most convenient is Puso (“poo-SO”).

For a Filipino meal rice is always present, it is not a meal if there is no rice served. Rice is a Staple food in the Philippines. It is commonly abundant in most Asian country, so since rice is that of importance in every Filipino plate Cebuano's created a rice where you can bring every where.

Hanging rice or Puso, it is rice wrapped and boiled in a triangular casing made of woven coconut leaves.

Cebuano street food would be incomplete without the puso, for reasons both delicious and practical. The organic casing imparts a unique leafy flavor to the rice, which is compact and dense enough to be eaten straight out of the leaves, without the use of spoon and fork. Since most Filipino eat using our hands. Then there’s the cleanliness factor. Wrapped in the leaves, the rice is protected from flies and human hands in open-air eateries. It is very handy and convenient to bring, it is portable and keeps for a day, it’s a regular item at picnics and on boat trips, it is best eaten with grilled pork, chicken, or seafood.

PUSO's size is normally a hand cupped size that costs 2-3 pesos. But what caught my attention is this really huge Puso we bought at Danao Public market. Compared to the usual size I'd say it's multiplied by 4. It cost 25 pesos for one Giant Puso. It is good for three person.

Some people complain with the usual size of the puso coz it's too small so believe they modified it to a bigger size for those who wants extra.
