Kaffir Lime, Citrus hystrix is native to tropical Asia and is also known as Makrut lime, and Mauritius papeda. While not often eaten the fruit juice is used in drinks and cooking. Oddly enough the most used part to the Kaffir tree is not the fruit but rather the leaf. It is used in chicken and fish dishes, steaming snails, and other traditional Asian dishes. The tree grows from 6 to 35 feet. Have you tried Kaffir lime or when cooking? Let us know what your experience has been with this fruit.
