Massaman Curry originated in the 17th century at the cosmopolitan court of Ayutthaya from the Persian merchant Sheikh Ahmad Qomi and over the years has been influence by Malay and Indian cultures. Though I try to cut down and limit my beef intake for various reasons, I usually eat massaman curry with beef. It usually also contains onions, peanuts, chunks of potatoes, pineapples & is eaten with rice.
The combination of the chosen meat and ingredients listed above is already savory enough for your umami, sweet, sour and bitter taste buds. The addition of the spices which includes cumin & cinnamon (to name only a couple) literally explodes with the most delicious flavors in your mouth.
If you're at a street food stall or at the mall, you may eat this as a one off dish over rice. When you're with family and friends, it's usually served as one of the dishes you share as a topping over rice.
