Skål! Swedish Viking Restauarant - Aifur

in food •  7 years ago

Mead, swords and Viking music. Not exactly an everyday thing for me. But this week I was lucky enough to be invited for a company dinner at Aifur, a Swedish Viking restauarant in Stockholm.

Check their website: http://aifur.se/

Appetizer - meat, cheese, mustard, flat bread and apples. Accompanied with delicious honey mead!

Fascinating cutlery!

The main course was salmon, really good and fresh salmon! The dessert was a saffron pancake! Yum!

Yup, there is a boat hanging from the ceiling.
And there is live Viking music playing in the background. I have no clue what the instrument they played was, but it looked like a bagpipe of some kind.

Even the outside of the restaurant was viking style!

I was a bit sceptical about the Viking theme, but I must say I was super impressed by how authentic it all was. Being a Viking myself I really felt at home! LOL!
(Yes, I can trace my family back for insanely many generations in Norway on both sides of my family)

Have a great Sunday everyone!

Hey Viking @Susanne! I really enjoyed the photos of your posts. Thanks for giving us an insight into your heritage.

Photo #1 - The appetizer looks incredible.
Photo #2 - The flattened cutlery handles and the 2 pronged fork have such a unique look. Are those viking coins laying on the napkin?
Photo #3 - What was served with the salmon? Is that a type of grain?
Photo #4 - I would totally missed the hanging boat if you had not mentioned it.
Photo #5 - Was the restaurant on the second floor?

Again thanks for sharing.

Those are indeed Viking coins. We used them to buy drinks with! :)

It’s called bulgur in Norwegian I think. Not sure if I am correct or what it’s called in English. Some kind of grain I think. It was super filling!

The restaurant was in a basement. So we kind of lost track of time a little bit.

Thank you for reading and leaving a great comment!

What??? That’s awesome. You should do a post about that! Yes, you really should. The food was surprisingly good. Thank you for reading and leaving you thoughts here!

Thank you very much! :) I paln to do so actually :D Unfortunately almost all the pictures were deleted from my USB Stick, I don't know why :( But the good thing is: My family which lives about 900 km away still has all of them :) So when I visit them the next time, I'll ask them for the wedding photos and post them together with our wedding story :)
Thank you for your lovely reply and your interest in our Viking wedding! :)

That sounds amazing, I'd totally go there if I was in the area! Let's face it, Vikings are cool! :D

They Are pretty cool, even though they acted like assholes. Ha ha! You should visit Sweden and pay them a visit.

That's true. Still kind of fascinating. Isn't there an old viking style ship / museum in Stockholm as well or am I making this up? I'm hoping to visit maybe next year (fingers crossed).

It looks fancy and delicious.
I sent you an e-mail last week.

thank you for allowing us to know other cultures through gastronomy, in my country there is no such thing or anything, especially the picturesque of the utensils

Great post, interesting place, interesting food, how did the Viking food taste, unusually?
