The red velvet I intended to make

in food •  7 years ago  (edited)

A few weeks ago, I had a brainwave to bake a red velvet cake at home to impress my boyfriend whom I just started dating. My boyfriend is a big fan of the classic red velvet. You see, in the beginning of a relationship, we all put in a lot of efforts to make the significant other happy and as usual the way to a man's stomach is... Obviously food. So I thought, why not?
I carefully followed all the procedure and baked a wonderful red velvet cake. it had a beautiful aroma that wafted through the house. Sounds perfect doesn't it? But No, life doesnt always give us what we want. Someone up there had a different plan for me that day . Things started going down when I upturned the cake from the cake tin. It broke. I had to fix the cake with a lot of fresh cream and strawberries, to hide the damage. Ultimately, it looked like a cross breed between red velvet and a black forest gateaux. It's safe to say that I couldn't impress my boyfriend with the classic red velvet. But I discovered that, red velvet and fresh strawberries with whipped cream, go very well together. ❤️
Take a look.
