I can't tell you in words how well this worked. I peeled, then cut each apple into 16 pieces. I will probably only go 8 pieces next time, but 16 is great for snack handouts. Each tray held 6.5 apples, 2 trays were plain, 2 trays had 1.5 teaspoons of cinnamon mixed onto the apples. Wow, I can't keep them in the house, the grandkids, neighbors, friends, everybody wants more. Oh dear!
Anyway, here are pictures of fresh first, then final, successful product. Love this machine.
As a dried product, these apples are crunchy. Yet, light and tender enough that I could easily grate on top of salads, or powder into a sauce, smoothie, baby food, or baking. Not to mention how easy to whip up apple pie :) Yup, i'm having FUN! I will post the sour cream and dried yogurt next. The possibilities here again are endless. Now that I have my machine I am making sure I am forever ready and prepared. I am learning, living healthy, and loving it. If you want a freezedry machine go to www.harvestright.com. They make it easy to own one. You heard it from terrahouseman. They give you some extras for mentioning where you heard about them, and I get small supply discounts. I could have paid a fortune to buy cans of food freezedried, however, I have made myself independent and free to choose exactly what I want and how much. I can also forever more make gifts of love with what I make. I will never waste money on junk for anyone again :)
