Today I am going to write about the Norwegian cheese: "Jarlsberg". Jarlsberg-exports-will-become-unprofitable-if-Norwegian-subsidies-removed-TINE.png This has to be one of the best known cheeses in Norway. Jarlsberg is an old traditional cheese. It has been made since 1820. Jarlsberg is a family friendly cheese with a mild and sweet taste to it. In Norway, you either hate or love it. If you love it, is it the only cheese you can eat. Derfor we say: Just Jarlsberg is Jarlsberg!

I have tasted this cheese when I was in Denmark. They also told me the story of a company which tried to produce Jarlsberg in the northern USA but they were not successful in making it. The main reason is the climate in Norway is quite particular and this means that you can't produce this cheese everywhere.

That is correct. They are planning to move the production to ireland now, which have a similar climate as norway. Did you like the cheese by the way?

Yes, it seems like the Swiss one I sometimes buy in Italy but a little different in flavor! But yes it tastes very good. I like to combine the cheese with fruits and for example, the parmesan cheese we have in Italy goes great with the pears. I don't know Jarlsberg what with can be combined.
