The longest pizza, the most recent Guinness Record
It was news last spring: in Naples, one of the cradles of pizza, 250 chefs beat a Guinness Record. It was not just any one, but the longest pizza in history. They achieved it with an elongated mass that exceeded ... the 1.8 kilometers! An authentic landmark and a source of pride for the Neapolitan population, who always demand the authorship of the most famous dish in the world.
How did they do it? The great team of chefs joined forces and used 2,000 kilos of flour, 1,600 kg of tomatoes and 2,000 mozzarella fiordilatte. In addition, they had 200 liters of olive oil and all of this came from local producers. One of the most incredible aspects is that the cooking was with wood ovens: they built five, portable, on wheels and with four entrances, each of them transported by groups of 25 people to go cooking each part.
The type of pizza, how could it be otherwise in Naples, was the traditional recipe of the city. Up to 35,000 pizza pieces were distributed and 300 meters were donated to the city's food bank. Cooking the longest pizza in history was a real event in Naples and also ... it sure was delicious!
Looks delicious.
