Everytime I buy tortillas Im disappointed, growing up I was spoilt as my Mum always made tortillas. So now I cant eat store bought ones. This batch I made with wholemeal flour, for your first time making tortillas Id recommend a white flour.

Ingredients

2/3 Cup warm water.
1/3 Cup Butter (or almost any oil you have)
Salt Pinch
2 Cups flour.

Process:

Water and butter into a food processor.

Than the flour and process until combined.
20180824_173414.jpg20180824_173448.jpgTurn it out onto a floured board and nead until a bit glossy and cover and stand for 20-30 mins.20180824_173533.jpg
After this cut into 8ths and roll into balls and cover the others as you roll them out on a floured board.20180824_175027.jpg20180824_175113.jpg20180824_175158.jpg20180824_175304.jpgUse a lot of flour while rolling and on the plate you put them on to prevent sticking together. Once i got 6 done I put a pan on the highest heat I got.20180824_175403.jpg20180824_181207.jpg20180824_180434.jpgMaintaining the heat of the pan is Important, also do NOT USE ANY OIL to cook em. I use a none stick pan, but if your pan is hot any kind of pan will work! I also use a lid to keep heat as my electric stove just isnt hot enough. But probly not required for most stoves. But if you cover them carefull not to sweat (moisture) them to much, when taking the lid off tilt it quickly!, This spills the condensation off away from pan.20180824_180626.jpg20180824_180738.jpg20180824_181603.jpg

So next time try making your own tortillas, that way you know its got 4 ingredients...not 45+ like some store bought tortillas.

Thanks

Love this soo good!! I add oregano, or rosemary or thyme super yummie. Also in the winter try to add 1:1 ratio of sweet potato or blue/purple potatoes, with a sprouted flour... yum yum yum

ahh ya sounds very nice,.. so you add some cooked potato to the dough?

yes cooked/steamed the Japanese sweet ones that are purple super good!

ahh nice, Ill have to give that a try next batch...thanks

I had never encouraged myself to do them myself, but it has made it seem very easy

Its quite easy, It is a slight learning curve for "rolling" them. But even the fat ones are fine and still delecious...:-)
