Preparation for Christmas dinner

in food •  5 years ago  (edited)

The first christmas day my family in law is comming over. Like every year we celebrate Christmas at one of the houses. We thought, cause we moved into our new home this year, we would celebrate it at our house.

I love cooking and so I volunteer every year to cook the christmas dinner, sometimes together with my brother in law of my father in law , but mostly alone. This year I am going to do it again by my self. Love it...with a nice glass of Whisky or Wine... Preparing some good food.

This year I am going to slow cook two massive turkey's on my Treager grill. The birds weigh 5 kilogram each. My wife bought me a great book with some great tips on a great result on the BBQ.

One turkey I am only seasoning with some great herbs, and the other I am going to stuff with some minced meat with some vegetables in it.

For the seasoning I made a rub out of the book.

A lot of dry herbs go into the rub, mix them all together and you got a great and tasty rub.

After the mix it look like this.... Ionly need it wednesday, so the herbs can mix good with all the flavors..

Do you like cooking or are you a "serve me please" person? :)

Have a great evening,

Peter

Looking good! My Brother in law does a full turkey on a charcoal grill. He loves it. he said it actually cooks quicker than if you try to do it in the oven. I do a turkey breast on the grill and it takes about 1.5 hours.

Both Turkeys staid on the grill fr 7 hours lol.... really slow cooked :) They were awesome

Awesome!

I am both!!! lol. Jokes aside, man from one pitmaster to the other, the preparations are already half the fun and I am sure your family in law will appreciate all the effort you put into the dishes!

hahah me too, I'm both as well.. But indeed preparation is so much fun. And to see a great result afterwards is just awesome...
