Hello Dear friends, today I am sharing with you a Chinese/Peruvian dish that is called Ka lum Wantan , when I think about this recipe, reminds me when back on the day I use to visit the "Chifas" (a type of Peruvian/Chinese restaurant ) with my family, my little brother always asked for this dish he did not like Chinese food except for this dish and since in Peru most of the restaurants serve a good amount of food, we usually ordered 1 dish for two, so I always ended eating a bit of his "Kam Lu Wantan" that is how I ended liking this dish and now when I go to a Chinese restaurant I order this dish. for the ones that never heard about the dish, it is a Vegetable Stir-fry served along wontons and a sweet sauce, if you like to sweet & Salty flavors along with vegetables this recipe might be for you.
Links for the ingredients / tools I use on this recipe will be at the bottom of the post
Kam Lu Wantan | Servings: 4
Ingredients :
- Vegetable Oil
- 1 chicken breast , sliced
- Half Pineapple , in Chunks
- 2 Cups of Snowpeas
- 2 Red bell peppers , Chooed
- 2 Cups of Spring onions chopped

- 3 Tbsp of vegetable oil

- 3 Garlic cloves, crushed
- 3 Tamarinds
- 1/2 Cup of Ketchup
- 1/4 Cup of brown Sugar
- 1 tbs of cornstarch
This dish is traditionally served with stuffed wontons, duck , shrimp and pork , I tried to reduce the amount of ingredients to make it easier to prepare at home.
Steps :
- In a pan add 2 cups of water then peel your Tamarinds and let it boil for 5 min, then pass trough a strainer and reserve.
()
In a hot pan quick seal your chicken 2 min per side then reserve.
In the same pan stir fry your veggies (Onions, Bell pepper, Snow peas), add a teaspoon of salt then reserve.
- In the Same pan add more oil and now add the ketchup along with the ginger and garlic , let it cook for at least 2 min then add the tamarind juice, salt, bring to a boil then add the cornstarch dissolved in 1 tablespoon of water, bring to a boil and add the veggies, pineapple, chicken and stir.
- Deep fry your wontons and then reserve.
- Serve with some, wontons and sprinke some chooped Spring onions leaves & some sesame seeds on top.
That is it guys, This dish might look kind of hard to make , but its actually pretty easy and really tasty , I think you should give it a try before judging, I know you will like it!
