I was in such a hungry for something sweet and I looked in my kitchen and nothing no one thing, I’m pregnant so… ok I will not blame the pregnancy for this I have always had a sweet tooth so I’m always looking for something sweet to eat pregnant or not pregnant LOL, but I’m picky about my sweets I die for chocolate and some other sweets but not for all, so here I was in my kitchen thinking how much my life suck cause there was not one single thing with chocolate on it, and was actually cursing Maduro for my lack of chocolate (if you don’t know who Maduro is he is the current president of Venezuela and the most hate person in my country too I will not talk too much about him cause I get mad just thinking of him so if you want to learn more just google it lol sorry).
But then I remembered! I have milk and I have rice and sugar! I can make Arroz Con Leche (fun fact I didn’t knew how to call it in English for this post so I google how and you people call it Rice Pudding wish well is interesting never thought of it like a pudding but hey if it works for you to call it Pudding be my guess!) Arroz Con Leche actually translates to Rice with Milk but for this Post purpose we will call it Rice Pudding, it is really easy to make and when you finish it you put a cup of it on a blander with a little bit of water you will get yourself a beverage we call Chicha (not the Peruvian one, another kind of drink typical of Venezuela).
So, let’s start with the Arroz Con Leche or Rice Pudding Recipe! This one is really simple and easy to do also really yummy in my opinion!
Ingredients
- 3 cups of Rice
- 3 cups Water
- 1Lt of Milk
- 2 cups of Sugar
(or a can of Condensed Milk I highly recommend to use condensed milk instead of sugar but since I live in Venezuela and a can of condensed milk is really expensive we do with what we have so…) - 1 stick Cinnamon (if you like)
Preparations
First you have to put the rice with the water to boil and cook until the rice is tender, by this time the water has evaporated so you can pour the milk and cinnamon onto the cooking rice and begin to stir, continue cooking over medium-high heat until the mixture comes to a boil. add the sugar or condensed milk and reduce the heat to low and cook, uncovered, stirring constantly, until the mixture is thick. Then let the heat come out of it and when cold enough put in the refrigerator, serve cold and if you like put some more cinnamon on it and/or raisins
and there you go that is all it takes to make a Rice Pudding Typical from Venezuela!
