WHAT FOODS TO PAIR WITH CRAFTED IPA BEERS?
IPA's are brewed light colored beers with a high hop concentration. The light color is from the grains which add a mild malt flavor to the beer and high content of hops add bitterness to the brew. Most IPA' have a high alcohol content.
With the growing craft beer industry in the U.S., craft beer locations are popping up all across this country from small towns to major cities.
So what foods pair with this pale-hoppy beverage?
IPA's pair well with fried and salted foods like fried chicken, the famous Buffalo wings and nachos.
Go fish! Salmon and stronger fish flavors like mackerel are great with a more citrus-hoppy flavored IPA.
Grill it up! Meats that are grilled on the barbecue or smoked in the smoker. The smoked and caramelized flavors harmonize well with IPA's.
Spice it up! Curries, Thai foods, and Mexican foods pair well. "Tom yam goong, anyone?"
Some cheese please! Aged cheddars such as Vermont sharp styles mellow out the bitter flavor.
Don't forget Dessert! Cheesecakes, Brulee, key lime pie and citrus cakes such as orangesicle. "Bring on the dessert!"
So go out to your local pub and order up a nicely crafted IPA and have a meal! Enjoy!
