If you want pakoras without frying or calories you must try appe pan as in appe pan few amount of oil is used. So lets start with the recipe.
Ingredients
• 1 cup Moong Dal(soaked it overnight)
• 2 tbsp. chopped onion and 2 Green chili(optional)
• 1/2 inch piece of ginger peeled and chopped
• 2 tbsp. chopped coriander/dhania leaves
• Cooking oil -2tbsp
• Cumin powder-1/4tbsp
• Garam masala powder -1/4tbsp
• salt to taste
Preparation
• Put the soaked moong dal ,ginger and green chilly in grinding jar and grind it with little amount of water.
• Put the paste in the bowl and add onions and remaining spices and salt into it.Mix it well and batter is ready for making appam.
• Turn on the flame and heat appam pan and put few drops of oil in each cavity. Put the batter in appam moulds in equal quantity.
• Cover the pan and cook it for 5-7minutes on low flame. Open the lid and apply little oil on it and then cover the lid for 2-3mins.Open the lid and flip it. Cover the pan and cook on both sides till golden.
•Take it out in a plate and serve with coriander chutney and tomato ketchup.
