Scientists discovered what is the perfect way to cut a pizza and you're doing it wrong

Two scientists were for years pondering how to cut the beloved food. Finally, they found the solution.

Everyone I know they cut the pizza in the same way: 8 servings as accurate as possible. We are all wrong, at least as revealed Joel Haddley and Stephen Worsley, two scientists from the University of Liverpool who spent years studying what is the perfect way to cut a pizza . Inorder to give the perfect way had to work possibilities somewhat strange and impossible to implement in the day. To conduct the research the scientists took into account several things.

 It will not be much?

The result is the pizza cut into 12 equal pieces . Six of them form a kind of star in the center and the other six remain at the edges. How does it work? Curved portions of three sides are cut through the pizza (as do currently but with undulations) after divided into two. Thus, diners can choose the part you want, with or without border, without receiving less than others. But scientists did not stay with this form of cut (while it may seem impossible could eventually apply) but were more there and found endless ways. After passing through tessellation disc in monoedral mosaic tried to perfect the technique and, on that basis of the star shape were fractionating inside to end in endless mini portions exactly a like.

 What is this?

Haddley answered it in the scientific journal New Scientist: "I have no idea whether there is any application at all to our work cut out the pizza, but the results are interesting mathematically, and can produce some pretty pictures". At least it can serve to not kill to see who will grab the largest share.

Sort Order:

the non crust pieces would be super hard to eat though, right. like how do you even hold it youd get sauce all over your hands.

Why not 16 slices?

I'd still cut mine into 8 slices because I can't eat 12.
