Allow me to start this post by acknowledging that I am a non apologetic Cowboy fan. I have lived in Dallas all of my life and I have been a die hard fan since I was 6 years old (1974). They are my team, and will most likely remain my team until I die.
That being said, I am losing my mind regarding how this team continues to derail with off the field distractions. We are 2 weeks away from training camp and this week alone there were 3 off the field incidents that will at minimum distract and most likely will influence the outcome of the 2017 Season.
- Star Running Back Punches a Man at a Nightclub
- Starting Wide Receiver involved in Strip Club Foot Race
- Another Wide Receiver involved in sketchy dog napping scenario
In 2 weeks, Jerry Jones (Cowboys Owner) will be rightfully inducted into the Hall of Fame. This should be a period where Cowboy fans along with Jerry can reflect on all of the great moments in the history of this franchise. Instead we and he will have to endure the embarrassing questions and ridicule for these most recent events.
Up to this point, It was shaping up to be a very promising 2017 for the Cowboys. They have a young QB that had a breakout year in 2016. They have the leading rusher from 2016 returning. They have solid recievers and the defense has signs of improvement. But many members of the team continue to take their eyes of the ball with these off the field distractions placing themselves ahead of their teammates.
I hope that they can right this ship quickly and make this upcoming season a meaningful one on the field.
