For a long time, Formula 1 has counted on "grid girls, inches promotional models who maintain up signs and are believed to add to the spectacle of a Formula 1 race. Yet the inexorable march of your time has changed public view, and F1's not turning a blind eye to it anymore.
The Method 1 racing series released today it can easily end the practice of "grid girls" starting with the 2018 season, which commences on March 25 in Melbourne, Australia.
"While the practice of employing grid ladies has been a selection of F1 Grands Tarif for decades, we feel this custom would not speak out loud with our brand ideals and plainly is at chances with modern day social norms, " said Estén Bratches, managing director of F1's commercial operations, in an argument. "We don't imagine the practice is appropriate or tightly related to Formula one particular and its fans, old and new, across the world. "
"Over the last year we have looked at many of areas which we felt needed updating to be able to be more in track with our vision for this great sport, inches Bratches continued.
It's worthy of noting that the decision to axe "grid girls" will also extend to the feeder series that typically accompany Grand Tarifs races.
Not every rushing series is heading in this direction, though. Upon our side of the Atlantic Ocean, NASCAR's top racing series recently transformed sponsors from Sprint to Monster Energy. With that change came the addition of "Monster Energy young ladies, " ditching Sprint's full fire suit outfit for something more in beat with a Miami club. The response was about as varied as a person would expect.
