What people think about our two most important rights.

The funny/horrifying thing is that my opponents regarding the two most important rights that we have think that either:

  1. there's nothing to learn; or

  2. take pride in not learning.

With free speech, people are convinced that there's nothing to learn. "It's just...like...your opinion...man." As if there aren't centuries of scholarship on the issue. People still insist that there's no truth -- no right or wrong -- in regard to free speech. At least, people who aren't free speech absolutists insist that there's no right or wrong; so, that frees them to restrict any speech that they want.

Gun control is where my opponents take pride in their ignorance. There are clear, objective, scientific facts that are relevant to the issue that my opponents take pride in not knowing. If anything, it seems that knowing the fine details about ballistics and the functionality of specific firearms and ammunition is stigmatized in the gun control movement.

It's not an accident that the president of these united States has famously claimed that a 9mm bullet will rip the lung out of a person's body, or, less famously, claimed that a bullet fired by an AR-15 travelers five times faster than any other bullet. He's anti-gun; so, it's heresy for him to know a damn thing that's real about guns. All these people are allowed to know about guns are the talking points about how dangerous they are.

Welcome to the world people. There are books that you can and should read in regard to these issues. It's not "just your opinion, man." Some of us have done our homework.
