The FreeBSD operating system with 3D desktop effects

This is a video, I made 4 years ago, but still relavant: A view at the FreeBSD 9 open source operating system with a combined X.Org, Gnome and Compiz 3D graphical desktop environment (GDE) across two monitors (dual).

FreeBSD is an advanced computer operating system, used to power modern servers, desktops and embedded platforms. Compiz is a compositing manager, which means, that it enhances the overall user interaction by adding fancy effects to windows, from drop shadows to awesome desktop effects like the Desktop Cube or the Expo view.

The CPU is Intel Core i5-2500 3.30 GHz x4. The graphics adapter is NVidia. The amount of memory (RAM) is 8 GB. The drivers in use are from NVidia.

If you compare FreeBSD to Ubuntu, and similar user friendly Linux operating systems, you will find, that FreeBSD is light-weight, fast and stable, where similar Linux operating systems is heavy-weight, slow and unstable on long-term use. Unfortunately, it is not an easy task to install a GDE like this on FreeBSD, as the procedure require a fair degree of system administration experience.
