At times, I guess that it's worth being honest about pessimism.
It's not lost on me when I throw my rhetoric and reputation behind the likes of Lionel Shriver, Frederick Douglass, Thomas Paine, John Stuart Mill, and John Milton on free speech that I'm not fighting a losing cultural battle--I'm fighting a cultural battle that's already been lost. At best, we're building a resistance movement.
It's still worth it because, I'm right and the opposition is so clearly and disgustingly wrong. Popular definitely doesn't mean right. If I have to die alone and a pariah because I standed by an absolutest view of free speech, so be it.
I'm right, you're wrong. I'll die on this hill.
