I had a conversation about Covid with one of my friends. They urge me to be super cautious because as an old fogey I'm more vulnerable. They take what would be considered the liberal position generally on handling the virus and therein lies the incongruity of the entire phenomenon.
That there ARE political positions on a strictly scientific issue.
Anyway I took the position that the earth and its population are on a train to social, environmental and political hades, and that journey includes plagues in greater frequency and severity as history lurches forward.
Ive had decades and enough near death experiences to have learned quite some time ago what's important in this brief existence. But the truth is after Covid expires or is declared dead or whatever, something else will come along threatening our freedom.
Its either a nuclear rogue nation or terrorism or catastrophic global warming or racial injustice or a mass shooting and today its Covid but one factor links all this stuff together. A den of vipers is brutally consistent in their use of these phenomena to gain control over your life through taxes, regulation, fees, censorship and political correctness. Like all other global "crises" Covid is shining a light on Oz.
The really good crises are used up like war with Russia, Covid, Climate change and so forth.
Now all we've got is Trump hiding atomic secrets under his boxers.
