Palestinian workers within the Green Line, colonies and industrial zones are subject to various kinds of oppression, discrimination and violation of the rights stipulated in all international conventions and conventions; they extend to the collective laws and agreements that the occupying state has undertaken and to abide by in bilateral agreements and understandings.

First: Violations against organized workers:

  • Exploitation: Palestinian workers are exposed to the exploitation of permit brokers and drivers, and they suffer large losses to reach the workplace in the absence of public transport means of transporting workers; the worker also pays thousands of shekels per month for the work permit.

  • Palestinian workers have been subjected to a long series of violations of their working conditions:
The vast majority work without work contracts: no individual or collective written employment contracts with employers; leaving workers at the mercy of the Israeli operator.

  • Discrimination in wages: There is a clear distinction in wages between Palestinian and Israeli workers who work in the same establishment, whether in wage or compensation.

  • Working hours: Workers work long hours and do not receive their overtime allowance.

  • Some workers are exposed to fraud and fraud: Many workers are subjected to fraud by employers, especially those whose permits are terminated or canceled or denied for security reasons; the employer expels them. Many workers are subject to dismissal because they can not access their workplaces regularly; as a result of Israeli practices or for security reasons or when they claim their rights.

Second: Violations of Unregulated Labor:

Israeli policies and measures against the Palestinian people have resulted in the closure of checkpoints, the confiscation of land and natural resources, the separation wall and many more - to continue to increase poverty and unemployment. This has led thousands of Palestinian workers to risk seeking work inside the Green Line.
and they are exposed to various kinds of violations, the most important of which are:

  • the exposure to shootings and killings sometimes, the arrest of hundreds of them and their imprisonment or return to the West Bank and the trial of many of them and fined them heavy fines.
  • Violence, abuse and humiliation: Workers are subjected by the operator to various forms of abuse, violence, humiliation and provocation without being able to complain or respond for fear of dismissal from work.

  • Work injuries: Those who are injured in work accidents do not receive treatment, are transferred to the Palestinian National Authority (PNA), and are subjected to inhuman and immoral roadblocks without any rights or recognition by the Israeli operator.

  • Fear: Permanent feeling of danger and extreme fear.

  • Non-recognition: No rights to these workers and does not recognize them.

Third: Workers in industrial zones and settlements:

The occupying state has established hundreds of illegal settlements in the Palestinian territories and dozens of industrial zones on the Palestinian territories. It treats the settlements as illegitimate and illegal. Thousands of workers are forced to work in these settlements and industrial zones.

  • Exploitation of wages by brokers and contractors.
  • Long working hours.
  • Exposure to hazards, pesticides and chemicals.
  • Psychological pressure and permanent abuse.
  • Working in hard and dangerous occupations.
  • Expulsion of workers, especially after being injured during work.
  • Do not pay them for days of absence resulting from injury.
  • Record them minimum working days.
  • Child labor in hazardous and harmful work.
  • The employment of women under conditions and conditions of work is inappropriate.

Thank you for taking the time to document these abuses. It is important to speak up loud and proud.

Although many of the abuses you mention above are more injurious in the short term, the one that always breaks my heart is when the army or the illegal settlers destroy Palestinian olive trees. Given the role of the olive as a symbol of peace, and the many long years it takes for an olive tree to become productive, the decades it takes for an olive tree to reach peak production, this crime seems particularly egregious.

May God bless and keep you.

O God, this is the most heinous crime committed by the occupation when olive trees are uprooted, those hundreds of years old trees that the Palestinian farmer has cared for since he was young
But the Israeli occupation uses these methods to increase the pain of the Palestinians, but this injustice will not last
