I love atlases, well, all maps really.
An atlas like the one in the pic above lived on my window sill for years when I was a child. It soon became obsolete as countries changed their names and borders but that didn't matter to me.
It always amazes me when children in my class can't understand maps. Yeah, we've got Sat Nav now, but surely it's good to understand where that came from.
I like to do an activity called 'orienteering' on the school premises with the kids. They soon learn the value of maps then. I draw the maps and write the clues for them to follow. It's great fun!
Becoming obsolete caused Atlas to shrug.
