It was a bittersweet victory, she said. But he didn't care. Winning the argument is all that matters.

Even if he did lose the girl.

John started the car engine and listened to it purr for a moment before pulling off into the traffic.

Some arsehole in a Fiat honked his horn at him and John lazily stuck his finger out the window and gave it a little wiggle.

He drove to the bar, pulling in he saw that his usual parking spot was taken.

Some woman was helping some guy with a stick into the car.

"I'll be gone in a minute," she said, smiling as he pulled in behind her.

"Do what you like," he said, leaving the car and the woman behind.

"You can't just park there!" he heard her shout, after him. "You're blocking our exit..."
