Old Maid - Freewrite

in freewrite •  7 years ago  (edited)

It's been a long time.. but after a very interesting evening - I was guided to this - and this fell out - unedited using the most dangerous writing app - there was one really sticky moment near the end where I nearly lost it all! Thankfully I didn't :)

Thanks as always for continuing to create this for us!

The Old Maid -

The old maid
We tried to save
She was always brave
An inspiration
But often she'd choose a very strange way to behave
Lots of issues
Many boxes of tissues
She became enslaved
The old maid
Bound to do what she thought life had said she must do
Just stew
On the past
And Make All The Pain Last
She's tired
Losing Energy
Life-Force Seems to be Draining
Pretty...
Fast.
Shame.
But hey...
That's the Game.
This life is a ride,
Deep down we all know that,
When the day the old maid dies,
She'll be free to look back,
She'll be free from the burden,
Of the weight on her back,
Her shining light will be golden,
And white light will shine out to engulf all the black...
The Maids Uniform
Always black.
Hide who you are
Forget that in Truth,
You Are A Star,
And stars are not born to stay eternally trapped,
Sometimes they burn out,
But they always spark back,
They light and they lull,
Sometimes they're bright,
Sometimes dull,
But underneath is all,
Is a love that connects us all,
Even the dear old maid,
Who's been so long a slave,
Maybe it's time that she flees
And Finally Sets Herself Free

You nailed it!!! So many of us ( myself at times included) suffer because we think we are supposed to. I am going to drop this under the prompt post too so more can see it :)
