Day 269: 5 Minute Freewrite: Sunday - Prompt: Good morning sunshine (My no 13)

"Good Morning Sunshine" Mr Halloran handed over a coffee as he entered my office. As part of the clean out, after the insider trading scandal that had rocked the bank only a few weeks ago, Mr Halloran had been promoted to General Manager. So it was promotions all round as far as the survivors went. Of all the people in the company, Mr Halloran always seemed one of the shadiest, but he came through the investigation clean, and was actually signalled out by the corruption watchdog as being unquestionably not involved.

"I need a status update on how our recovery is going by lunchtime today." Halloran prompted, "I have an afternoon board meeting - and the board want you there in person to update on your teams progress in repairing the damage."

Shit, having to give a presentation in front of the board was huge, it already felt like I was being pushed way to far just being in this role, now dealing with the board, and executive level discussions was scary as hell. I ventured to Mr Halloran "Can't Simon Mainman do it, he is my division manager now, can I give him the update to pass along?"

Halloran dismissed this without thought "You'll be right sonny, it's only the board of directors of a 180 year old, top 20 company going through a major crisis. No pressure, but they want to hear from the man with the company's future in his hand"
