"How are you today, Julia?"
"Did you sleep well? How are you feeling?"
Julia ignored the men as they asked their questions. They didn't really care about the answers; her attention was all they sought. They weren't worthy of it, though. They only ever heard her words. They never listened.
"Has there been any progress?"
Julia let out a quick burst of laughter. Of course there hadn't been any progress. There wasn't anything wrong with her. There was no telling them that, though.
"Well, we're still in the early stages of treatment, so there isn't much to be expected at this point. However, she seems to be settling in quite well."
She frowned and worked her hands into the soil, creating a small hole and then burying a bright green seed. She didn't much appreciate the "treatment" they tried to force on her. Those pills did nothing more than keep her drowsy. She stopped taking those weeks ago.
"What beautiful flowers you have, Julia. I've never seen anything like them before. Do you know what they are?"
"My precious children," she sighed happily, gently petting the ink-blue blossoms. She may not love her uncle, but at least he had always complimented her children. That was enough to at least make her like him.
"The flowers are a bit of a mystery for us. This was bare soil when she first arrived, but we found her tending to them a few days later. One of my dear friends is a botanist and has volunteered to identify them, as even he couldn't determine the species. He took a sample just the other day."
The blossoms shivered slightly and Julia cooed calmingly to them. There was no need for them to fear that man, that botanist, ever again. They would be fully grown, soon. And then no one would be able to harm them.
Note: I was over 5 minutes on this one, but I had a lot of fun creating this story!

This makes me wish it wasn’t a freewrite! That botanist must be very sorry.
