Not Good Spider Stompers! (5-minute freewrite Day 309 prompt: Describe your shoes)

in freewrite •  6 years ago

At the moment I am not wearing shoes, because it has been a warm day. But I will describe the ones I wore when I took my Grandpuppy for a walk earlier. They are navy blue Skechers slip-ons. I've had them for 2 or 3 years now, and they are beginning to look a bit worn, especially on the inside. I've been wondering whether I can wash them by hand, and I plan to give it a try. The insides were pink, but they are now a very dirty pink! The soles have bumps on them, and I assume that is supposed to make it more comfortable to walk in them but it also makes it very difficult to squish spiders.

I handled a second pair of my shoes today, although I did not put them on. They are Keens casual shoes, brown in color. I think I bought them just last year, but they have seen a great deal of use. It occurred to me I ought to polish them, so I bought brown shoe polish and did that, a few days ago. The shoe laces were all worn out and on the verge of breaking any day, so I went looking for new shoe laces. I tried two stores, Walmart and Payless Shoes, because they were convenient. They had no flat brown shoelaces in the necessary length! So I gave up on buying local and purchased two pair through Amazon. Today I put them on my shoes, and told my husband, "The oddest little things make me happy! Now I can wear my shoes again!"

I love Skechers because they are so comfortable. You know that you are not supposed to squish spiders, right? LOL!
Have fun wearing your new "old" shoes.

Some people are irrationally prejudiced against things with more than 4 legs. Also, things with no legs, sometimes. People are weird.

I don't object to small spiders that do not sneak up on me. I do object to large spiders, especially if they sneak up on me! I have been known to leave "Daddy Long Legs" spiders in the corners of my basement because they are catching flying insects. There is a nasty-looking spider living in our basement doorway right now and I choose to overlook it because it is doing the same worthy job. But if it sneaks up on me sometime......

HaHa! Do NOT sneak up on @scribblingramma! HaHa! I can't stand to have them inside so I do catch and release. You just never know where they could be hiding.
