The Sunday That Was...

After a few days of recklessness and feeling down, my grandfather stirred me up from a stale state early this morning. There had to be a quick family gathering and he needed me and my two sisters to go see him.

Something had come up with a traditional procedure we are following and some updates were being made now that old age is here and they want to bless us before they leave earth. Its a long process of visits to their home with specific things (including sheep, a heifer, a bull, a few gallons of traditional beer, a feast for every visit and of course, money. Loads!)

Yes. Its expensive being African. But they are also traditions and it's easier to follow them than argue with the ancestors or disrespect the old we are told.

Being that I am trying to carve stories from stills... this is where I run to when the relatives become unbearable. I don't know about yours but mine are most of the time :D

It's a small man made dam that irrigates whatever green you can see adorning the landscape surrounding it. The manicured green beyond the bushy edges is tea.

My youngest sister took this on her phone. That is me and her son. He is my eleven year old buddy 💙

I love how close he gets when we are walking together. He looks like me in a way someone would mistake me for his mum. People have.

After the conversation that took us to our rural home and a boiled tasty chicken, we had to go back. And again...

This is me and my other sister and a beautiful sunset.

The tea plantations on either side of the road was glowing. So was my sister and her dreadlocks too though she was a bit cold. Since she's asthmatic, she was rocking both of our sweaters and I was braving the chilly sunset. I didn't mind it one bit though.

I never have.

I love these shots so much that I thought of sharing them here. The first I took on my phone and my youngest sister captured the other two me unaware and sent them on my WhatsApp.

And that is the post that would break my five day silence.

But it is also now some good memories locked on the chain. A some good ones I might add. I hope you enjoyed or will enjoy your Sunday as I did mine.

BQ.
