Description of a Bird

We were made to breach the sky,
Winged hearts with future eyes.
With steady strokes
we drift
and soar,
meant to land
on distant shores.
When we nest,
we seek a place,
high above, from threats
and safe.
Our young, so fragile
left alone,
rely on us to make their home.
We nourish, feed,
and help them grow
until at last they leap,
we know
for all the world,
we've done the right
as up our fledglings
master flight.

Thank you my sweet friend!

You are very welcome @wandrnrose7..Hmm, I just now noticed the 7 in your name. Guess I should pay more attention, lol.

lol many overlook the 7, no worries, dear!

Oh, this is a real gem!
I love these 5-minute freewrites. I think all of my favorite work has at least come from a fast word flow.
There is magic in soaring.

Thank you so much for your kind comment! Yes, I am discovering this as well!

Lovely, the first segment (ending with "on distant shores.") in particular is very light in form and carries you along as you read it.

I always like and am amazed when people go for free-write poems. Good job :)

Thank you. I only ever knew freeform having never studied proper forms, but I want to! More on my study list, @geekorner!

I meant free-write as in @mariannewest's, I only really write free-form as well :)
I actually like it more.

But it is fun to experiment, even if only to find out home is where you started :D

Oh my, your peoms read so well, I feel mystified that you call them free form! I like that analogy of home is where you started!

Such a beautiful poem and the perfect image to go with it! Love both! : )

Thank you so much, dear. I was so happy to find such a good image that fit the message!

so sweet - and the picture!!! :)

Thanks @mariannewest. I was surprised to find that when I went looking and thought perfect!

Love what you did with it. It was a difficult prompt.

Thank you. I agree, I wasn't clear on my path on that one.

This has a great rythm, so flowing ☺️

Thank you, dear @f3nix, I'm so sleepy tonight it's a small effort I have given. <3
